Heating
Use a programmable thermostat and set it to 18º C (64º F) when sleeping or away during the day. Remember, heating costs rise about 5% for every degree above 20º C (68º F) that you set your thermostat.
Shift Your Use
- Shift laundry to weekends where possible
- Rinse and wash clothes with cold water
- Shift dishwasher use to off-peak periods where possible. Always run full loads and don't forget to use the air dry setting
Beware of phantom power
Phantom power is the energy consumption that's drawn when electronics are switched off or not in use, but plugged in. Put your electronics and chargers on power bars with timers. Set the timer for chargers to come on during off-peak hours and shut-off after a few hours of charging.
