Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is an important factor in our everyday lives especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. IAQ can be affected by gases including carbon monoxide, radon gas, microbial and viral contaminants, dust and micro organism particles and allergens. Canadians spend an average of 90% of their time inside. Proper air filtration system like PureAir® or HEPA filtration system along with UV lights could reduce health risk and indoor allergies dramatically.
Furnace filters come in variety of sizes and efficiency. MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value is used to rate the effectiveness of the filters since 1987. The scale is designed to represent the worst case performance of a filter when dealing with particles in the range of 0.3 to 10 micrometer. The MERV rating is from 1 to 16. Higher MERV ratings correspond to a greater percentage of particles captured on each pass, with a MERV 16 filter capturing more than 95% of particles over the full range. Filters with MERV rating between 5 to 10 are perfect for residential application.
Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) is an air exchanging device to recover existing heat from building stale air and introduce fresh air from outside to building internal ducting system. HRV system can be used in residential and commercial applications specially in tightly constructed homes. HRV
- Stuffy, stale atmosphere that persists
- Warm exhaust coming back down the exhaust vent or chimney when your furnace is on
- Lots of moisture in the heating equipment area
- Moisture build-up on the windows
- Pilot light that keeps going out
